Lily Inside

Tortoise

Popular tortoise Lily is inside for the winter. A current Zoo exhibit sign explains that while her wild relatives are burrowed down in the cold Mohave and Sonora deserts, Lily is inside so she can work with Zoo Docents when they teach about the life and times of these extraordinary animals whose life spans can reach 100 years. Desert tortoises are protected: it is unlawful to touch, harm or collect a wild desert tortoise.
