Pasture Hoofstock

Horses are a solid-hoofed herbivorous mammal used as a beast of burden, a draft animal, or for riding. Whether under saddle or pulling a cart horses have been by our side through the ages.

Miniature Mediterranean Donkeys

The Miniature Mediterranean Donkey is by nature friendly, affectionate, and gentle. Their calm and patient dispositions make them ideal for use as companions to livestock and people.

Miniature Zebu

A true miniature, the zebu cattle are characterized by a fatty hump on their shoulders and a large dewlap.  India is believed to be the center of origin of zebu cattle. Miniature zebus are thought to be the only naturally existing miniature cattle.

Goats are ruminant mammals typically kept as livestock enjoying pasture grass.  The Folsom Zoo Sanctuary currently has two types of goats. Nigerian dwarf goats are a miniature dairy breed.  They are friendly animals and are other used in 4-H and Future Farmers of America programs.  Nubian goats are a large breed of goat.  These are also used as a dairy goat.

Mule Deer

Deer are the ruminant mammals that enjoy a habitat of grasses, other browse and fresh water.  Mule Deer are medium-sized deer of western North America that derive their name from their large, mule-like ears.
